I
am single and want to buy a resale HDB flat
If
you are single and would like to purchase a resale HDB flat, you
could only apply under the Single Singapore Citizen Scheme or the
Joint Singles Scheme.
Both
schemes are pretty much the same, except that the Single Singapore
Citizen scheme allows you to purchase a resale HDB flat by yourself
while the latter scheme will allows you to purchase it together
with another Single Singapore Citizen (up to 3 other co-applicants).
Single
Singapore Citizen Scheme (SSC)
If
you MUST be a Singapore Citizen and at least 35 to be eligible to
purchase a resale HDB flat under this scheme. The conditions are
:
Citizenship
You must be a Singapore Citizen.
Age
You must be at least 35 if you are unmarried or divorced.
If
you are widowed, you must be at least 21.
If you are an orphan who does not have other siblings below 35 buying
a separate flat under the Orphans Scheme, Joint Singles Scheme or
SSC Scheme, you must be at least 21.
Marital
Status
You must be unmarried, divorced or widowed.
Income
Ceiling
There are no income ceiling, however, should you apply
for the CPF Housing Grant for Single, your household income must
be less than $3000, else you will not be granted the CPF Housing
Grant.
Ownership
of Private Residential Property
You can own private property but must live in the resale HDB flat,
but if you are applying for CPF Housing Grant, you MUST not be owner
of any private property.
Ethnic
Integration Policy
You are allowed to buy a resale HDB flat in any town or estate,
but provided that the approved proportion of your ethnic group has
not been reached.
The
Ethnic Integration Policy is a government regulation to ensure that
there are equal or even distributions of different ethnic groups
in each town or estate.
CPF
Housing Grant for Singles
You may apply for the CPF
Housing Grant for Singles if you are at least 35 and meet all
the eligibility conditions under the CPF Housing Grant Scheme for
Singles.
Joint
Singles Scheme (JSS)
The
Joint Singles Scheme allows you and your single friends/relatives
to purchase a resale HDB flat together, those purchasing under this
scheme need to be related to be eligible for this scheme, but you
and your single friends/relatives must meet the following conditions
to be eligible:
Citizenship
You and your friend/relative MUST be Singapore Citizens.
Age
You and your friend/relative must be at least 35 if unmarried or
divorced.
If
all of you are widowed, you and your friends/relative must be at
least 21.
If you are an orphan who does not have other siblings below 35 buying
a separate flat under the Orphans Scheme, Joint Singles Scheme or
SSC Scheme, you must be at least 21.
Marital
Status
All of you must be unmarried, divorced or widowed.
Additional
Condition
You must buy the flat jointly as co-applicants with the rest of
them.
